You ENJOY Being Over Weight?

          So, you’ve lived well and eaten whatever you want. No one is going to tell YOU what to eat or how to live. Yeah, the scale is showing some serious digits, but you take it as Bigger is Better! People won’t mess with you now cuz you’re big! Doesn’t matter it’s Jaba the hut big. So you need two chairs to sit in, and have to buy two tickets when flying cuz take up two worth of room. But Hey, you CAN’T be too big, they still make clothes in your size so it’s OK, right? Looking down and seeing your feet is over rated, you know they’re there or you wouldn’t be walking. You think it’s a cool trick to walk by a restaurant and make the water glasses vibrate like you were trying out for an extra on Jurassic Park. You got this, right? But you have a point to make, You are YOU and no one should tell you what to do. So you push back by eating more and doing less so that you can weight more and lay around more so you can eat more an do less and ….. Does it ever stop? But wait! There’s MORE! If you act now, or I should say Don’t act now and keep laying around, you can get heart dieses, Diabetes, restricted blood flow to the brain, Joints locking up, skin conditions and more! NOW you’re showing them who’s in charge, Huh?! Look, these same people that have been doggin you are the ones that care about you. The ones that tease are usually the ones that could lose a few pounds too and are just trying to make sure the spot light is on you, not them. Don’t take that to heart.

           What’s next? Well if you don’t really want to just lay around and die early, perhaps you’ll see an ad for weight loss or maybe a good friend wants to team up and get healthy with you or whatever the reason, you decide enough is enough, you DO have things to live for, you DO want to do more and get out there to live and not just exist. You now put in the time and hit the gym or set up an at home area to work out. You dial in to a better nutritional way of eating and you start to slowly see the weight come down, clothes size come down, your confidence is getting higher as you feel better and want to show the world what you’ve accomplished, right!? But, you look in the mirror and you aren’t UN-happy yet not really happy either. All that work and you still have this waist and lower gut issue. And what’s with these flags developing under your arms? Yeah, pass it off to more work needs to be done yet. Oh but there’s more. Now you start to notice a sound when you do jumping jacks or high knee kicks or,,, wait a minute, it’s the skin slapping against your stomach area and upper thigh. You look hard in the mirror and realize that all this work you’ve done, is making you look like the Incredible Melting Man or Woman. Yeah. Forget taking those after pictures now, just pass the Haugen Das or where’s the closest BBQ joint …… Wait… Beer! Yeah I need a Beer! Put the brakes on Skippy, before you get back into that fat lane of life and gain it all back, there ARE things to do that will help you out and let you show off all that hard work you’ve been doing.

         Trust me, I know, I have the same issue that I’m going through right now. True there are those with more than I have hanging around that won’t shrink back down. But it’s all the same really, stuff is hanging around that you want to get rid of. After all, that’s why you started all this, to look good naked and feel better. It seems age is a factor but not the ONLY factor. Young or old, it can still happen. It does happen more to those that are up in age but that is all from the lack of skin memory to shrink back down. If you have a little bit, don’t sweat it, it will take a year or two but it will go away as long as you keep up with your new fitness lifestyle. How much is just a little? If you can’t really grab a handful of it, but just a little with your fingers, you’ll be OK. But a hand full is and will be an issue. That’s where I’m at. And if you can grab enough to pull it way up, you need medical attention to get rid of it. There are no magic pills or drinks that will do that for you. The worst thing you can do though, is get all depressed and think you look worse now than when you did being fat. At least then you could get attention from Chubby Chasers. There may be some saggy skin chasers but I doubt it. So, there are things you can do to help. First of all think of how much better you feel emotionally and mentally and physically since you lost all that weight. Don’t forget how you used to hurt and ache when going up stairs or climbing a ladder or just plain getting up and down off the couch. Nothing is worth going back to that. OK, what are you going to do about it then?

           First of course is the Medical way to have it removed and be done with it. If it’s a lot, it’s a good idea to do so. That procedure will range from, depending on the degree of removal, anywhere from 5,000 up to 20,000 dollars. Sometimes certain Insurance policies will help you out since it is a health issue and not just cosmetic. Your clothing right now is important. You want to go with darker colors rather than lighter bright ones. That doesn’t mean you need a closet full of black clothes and look gothic all the time. You just need to go with Dark green or Dark blue or Dark brown, get the idea? It has to do with how the clothes project a sort of shading that allows for a little extra curve here. A compression type under garment is recommend too. This will hold you in even more, so you don’t wiggle in the wrong places when you walk. It doesn’t need to be supper tight and cut off circulation anywhere. Oh, but what about the arms and back area? Wear a compression style shirt underneath and the back will be at a minimum. For the arms, don’t go sleeveless. It’s really up to you though and your comfort zone at this point.

           Nope, I didn’t forget about the visual medal of honor picture to show off on FB or Instagram or any other social media you may be into. Yes, the After Picture! For men it’s easy, don’t stand straight in front of the camera, this will hide the little bit at the waist area and show more of the stomach in a positive way. Arms need to be down and flexed so the extra skin doesn’t show hanging under them. Never wear your pants or shorts below the hip or bellybutton area, especially if your bellybutton is now hanging low enough to make it a porno picture, if ya know what I mean, LOL! For women, wear a one-piece swimsuit rather than a two piece, again it’s your comfort zone so you decide. For everyone, stay with dark colors and check your lighting, too much will make you look like a billowing cloud and not a slenderer you. Make sure your background is plane and NOT White, that color will kill you and make the picture look a little fake. The angle should be direct but off just slightly to giving a better hiding of the curves you don’t want to show. Also keep the picture as level as you can, no one wants to see how much weight you lost because you cleaned out your nose, LOL! There is only 1 way you will ever look perfect, Photo-Shop! So, don’t try too hard, just take several pictures with angles and lighting and clothing until you get just the right look you are going for. Having fun with it is the most important thing. People will see the results.

           The main thing to all the hard work, time and effort you put in to this fitness journey no matter what ANYONE tells you is ….. Don’t Stop, Give up or Go back! There are a ton of YouTube videos out there by people in your situation that can give advice and ideas and even help to keep you motivated to continue on and not quit or beat yourself up or feel like you did it all for nothing. Believe what I say, Been there done that, still dealing with it. Keeping your mental mindset to a positive attitude about your journey is what wins over everything else. Having some “extra hanging skin” really should be looked at and replaced with the fact that you now have “extra time to live.” It can all be turned around but it’s up to you. Good for One but not the Other!?

     Throughout time and recorded in history, there’s always been that one-way street type of thinking and it really needs to stop. What I’m talking about for example is when a person comments, like on social media saying , “WOW you look really HOT like that!” and the response back is “Oh, Thanks!” a few days later another person says the same thing, “WOW, you look really HOT like that!” This time, the response is “I don’t like that comment, it was improper! I’m married and don’t like pervs looking at me like that!” Why was it OK for the person to say that and not another? NO one really has an answer to that. I’ll bet if the other person was good looking there would have been no negative response only a smile. Now, if you keep track you’ll see some other interesting conditions, such as, have you ever seen or heard about a Sexual Harassment charge between 2 people that find each other attractive? It’s amazing the double standard we put on our lives making it OK for THIS person to say something but not THAT one!

     Another example of this that I have firsthand experience with, more than once, is if a married guy starts talking to a woman and they hit it off enjoying each other’s company, even though no mention of a hotel was brought up, or even joking about anything doing with sex, once the lady finds he’s married, the attitude changes and he’s a piece a crapp out for just one thing! Men are all a like! Then threaten to find his wife and tell her. Yet, reverse that and have a married lady talk to a guy, that’s OK!? They justify this when asked by saying, “Well I KNOW I’m not going to do anything!” Double standards are everywhere and should be Nowhere! Let’s not stop with just words. If you dress a certain way, showing off your fine body and you seem to have a lot of chest showing or something, why call someone a pervert and get all upset because they noticed?

     My point on this subject is that Life is too short, we should enjoy and not destroy our lives and the lives of others. People tend to criticize or scrutinize things way to much. Living on a one-way street type of thinking. We are all we have and we’re in this together.

School House Mindset

     A person’s mind is a lot like a school house really when you think of it. There are big schools and small schools. High tech schools and others. So, let’s think of your mind as a school house. What house are you? Unfortunately, a lot of people are stuck in that one room school house with limited thinking and ability to adapt to the ever-changing world around them. They sit and watch as people pass by and opportunities pass by as well. New things evade them and complaints and criticism is the number one thing you will hear from them. Don’t get me wrong, everyone is needed in society and has their place. The old school or one room school mindset is needed because they see things as more of a black and white, one or the other type lifestyle and way of thinking, making a foundation for others to grow on . True, they miss out a lot on things but aren’t all things born from a positive or negative means?

     Sometimes these type help to push others that are more of a multi-room school house. A mindset of possibilities that seem like dreams and fantasies and don’t like to take no for an answer or be told they can’t do something because ….. they just can’t! Those are the ones that made things possible like Flight, Cars, Trains. Factories, Fast food and many other items. All this happened because someone with that one room school house attitude mindset told that person they couldn’t. We need the nay Sayers to keep progress going. Without them, we wouldn’t know how good we were doing. There is a place for everything and everything in its place.

     Stepping up from there is the multi room school house mindset, as mentioned earlier. They feed off the one room bunch and have an outlook of wonderment and awe at the world. They are like kids that never grew up. With more than one way of thinking they can devise ideas and make them a reality. A little more positive in their mindset. By not taking no for an answer, it dives them to new achievements. Yes, they can be a little annoying at times because they ask so many darn questions. But questions are what makes things really happen. The Multi-Level School House Mindset person looks at life like this…. If there is no struggle there is no growth. I became Strong because I was weak, I became Fearless because I was afraid, I became wise because I was foolish! These are the movers and shakers.

     I mentioned also about he Tech school house, Medical school house and so on. Those are the same mindsets as e talked about, just more focused on one particular issue such as health, technology, military and so on. All in all, EVERYONE is needed in this world and no one person or group of people are better than or more important that another. Life Takes Balance or it doesn’t work.

It’s YOUR Choice

 From day one when you were born, you were making choices. What most don’t know or even realize, is there are 3 levels of choices we all make on a daily basis. The levels are Good, Bad & Sub-conscious, The Sub-conscious ones are the most dangerous because we don’t even know they are happening. It’s our brain on auto response based on past decisions. The Good ones can also be Bad ones when it’s looked at long term. What our life is today is a direct result of those choices we’ve made through our life like it or not. I know, you’re thinking, I didn’t Choose to be in an accident, or be overweight or out of shape or …. OK, OK let’s focus for a minute and look at this. Did you think about that double burger with cheese and large fries before you ate it as in long term? No, you didn’t. Now you are overweight. You didn’t choose to be un-fit but you did choose to watch TV, play video games, lay around. Sound familiar? Not many at all really think of the long-term effects of making a choice in life. Remember, for every action there is a reaction. You can’t get away from it or around it.

      Most will point the ever so popular and guilt relieving, finger of blame and make excuses as to why their life sucks or isn’t what they dream of. Truth is, you made it what it is in more ways than you are willing to admit. But oh no, society has made it impossible to get ahead or be all you can be and make your dreams come true. That is the most popular mindset on this matter. You must realize that it’s not just one choice that made this life you are living, it’s a multitude of choices throughout your life that has you where you are today. We ALL start out the same, naked and kicking a screaming. You can let society dictate your choices as you go through life or make your own. Either way, they were your choices to make. Looking for blame about your life only wastes time looking for the easy answer to your problems or situation. Claiming or feeling you had no control of what’s going on is only the reality of the choices made back in your past. No one wants to believe they made a single bad choice let alone several. So, let’s get that finger pointing and take away our inner feeling of failing. It’s not your fault, right!?

     But, how do you know if it’s a good bad or sub-conscious one? All you have to do is think about it. When you react without thinking, that’s your Sub-conscious working. And yes, you can sort of program how your sub-conscious makes those choices. So, the Good ones or Bad ones? That’s where it gets tricky and you’ll have to use your brain a little on those because all choices have their good and bad sides. You just need to project a little and see what will work for you. And yes, even the best laid plans can go bust do to unforeseen circumstances. But, here’s the beauty of it, you can choose what do next. Oh, and surprise, NOT doing anything? Was your choice. Let’s explore and try to understand the 3 levels of making a choice in your life.

     We’ll leave the mystery one for last and start with the “Good Ones” What are Good Ones? Good ones are the ones you either thought your way through by running the what if factor or scenarios of what could happen later. Let’s take that burger for example. You chose to have it, not thinking about the after effect of what your body will do with it. But when you do think about it first and realize this choice will lead to being overweight so you don’t have it. That’s making a good decision. I hear you. “But if I just do that once in a while and not all the time, I’ll be OK. So, having that burger is NOT a bad choice.” True! However, what you just did was make a GOOD choice by not having one every day since you thought about it and see how it can be not so productive for your over all weight to keep eating them all the time. Like I said in the beginning, any choice can be good or bad depending how you make them.

     Now, a Bad Choice? We sort of hit on that talking about the Good Ones but let’s get a little more detailed here. This one is the most abused reason for things not going the way you wanted them to. I had no control, I didn’t know that was going to happen, Others did it, they started it, ego, peer pressure, self-gratification, poor planning, listening to others, following a lead blindly, the list goes on and on. You can see by those examples what else could cause a Bad Choice, how may more can you think of? A Bad Choice is simply when you do something with full awareness and either not thinking it through or just plain not caring about the effect. Why would someone make a bad choice to begin with? It all stems from not thinking and acting first. Bottom line, the definition of a Bad Choice is “NOT seeing the big picture”, I’m sure you’ve that term before.

     On to the Mystery one, the “Sub-conscious” one. It’s a mystery because it’s both good and bad at the same time. Your sub-conscious will not lie or do anything it doesn’t want to. Yet you can control it by making good choices throughout your life thus causing the sub-conscious effect to be positive. Did I lose you on that one? It’s just all the things you have programmed in over the years building your auto pilot actions. Here’s an example, a great friend or loved one is in trouble or hurt, your brain runs a million scenarios choosing the best action to take and then you react. You didn’t think about it, visualize the what if’s or long term. You simply reacted by making a sub-conscious choice to do so. To close for now because I know this one was a long one, but that was my choice to make it that way, I just want to end with saying to you that the end result of ANY action was the direct result of your choice or choices as to the final outcome. Believe it or not you have more power over your life than you may believe. So strt Thinking before you start Sinking. Choose Wisely My Friend!

What IS Fear?

 What IS Fear, anyway!? As I see it, it’s just the most common human reaction to an issue or situation placed before a person that’s new or unknown. Fearing something will not make it go away or easier to cope with. What ever is going to happen will happen so why be afraid? When fear strikes, your mind goes blank or starts making decisions that will make the “Whatever” thing that is going on be a worse, since it’s just a reaction to an action. But so is confidence and positivity and embracing and surprise and ….. OK you get the idea. More often than not, if you confront the fear before you, it does go away and usually turns positive. It ultimately becomes what ever we feed it. Fear is a negative, and unfortunately in today’s society, negative thinking is the number one feeling and emotion. Sad but true. Only you can change that. The first step is to realize YOUR life is YOUR life and not what someone else is telling you that it is. Take it from me, from an EARLY ASS time in my life I was told how my life would be and to get used to it and just be happy with it. As the years went on I learned and watched other’s. They were breaking the rules, doing what they wanted in a positive way and helping turn other people’s lives around at the same time. I knew that’s what I wanted to do. So, I had to break the chains that held me. It was a belief I learned as a child and so it wasn’t going to be easy to do.

        No matter how many times I fell, I got back up and faced it head on. Sometimes that means cutting loose people you may have known for 10, 20 or even 30 years because the negativity is killing you. Negativity comes in many forms, not just cut downs or failures. Negative can be from someone close to you that claims to have only the best of interest in your future…… yeah, as long as it conforms to their belief as they see it. But even the best of intentions can come with a price tag you don’t need to be paying. Wish them well and move on. I have a few like that that I’ve had to walk away from while keeping them in my heart as a friend or family member that is and always will be a part of life’s journey. So many people won’t understand any of this and that’s OK, it takes time. Nothing Awesome happens overnight but one night it will happen. You’ll wake up and realize all this banging your head on the wall is what causing that headache and not your job, family, friends. The wall is from listening to everyone and believing they know better than you about how to run your life and what to do. Sure, take their advice, but not as gospel. Take it all as you would when you go shopping for something. You look around see what’s out there, look at the choices and pick what YOU want, not what someone told you to pick.

       Friends and family advise is exactly like that. Pick and choose what will make your journey of life be what you want it to be, don’t be afraid. Remember, fear is just a reaction and where most all bad choices are born. Now there is a difference between fear and being careful about something new to you and that’s OK. Being careful allows your mind to think clearly and choose hopefully the right path or plan of action to take. Fear just makes it all seem dark and let’s us miss out sometimes on something that would have been Awesome! So what’s it going to be? Fear the unknown and run or Embrace what’s put before you and live a life you want to live?

Anyone Out There?

     Blogs are supposed to be informative and or contain something people want to read about. Perhaps a blog is really just a social media Diary. Everything now days is on the internet for all to see and people love drama because it takes their mind off of their problems and or makes their problems not seem so bad. I’ve been told the best way to write is to do it like no one is watching or reading it and it’s all just your private thoughts in your private head dancing away to a song only you hear. Well that’s easy for me since I don’t believe anyone is reading any of this yet at all. Perhaps one day someone will find this blog and tell someone else and so on and so on and before you know it I’m an over night world wide celebrity of sorts. Yeah, I’m laughing too on that one. As you can tell I’m just talking tonight, nothing real deep or mind blowing or helpful to any one’s life’s issues. I just wanted to keep it light this time and carry on. Proving a the point that THOUSANDS of people I don’t know are reading my stuff, but finding it too boring to comment, is just plain ridicules.  

      People can’t help but to comment on stuff. It’s in everyone nature to do so. Some can control it and just watch as life goes by but so many more now days just Have To say something giving their two cents worth like they know it all and need to set the world right. So, to believe that there are that many people seeing what I write and NOT comment in some way or another, good or bad, I would have a better chance wining the Lotto! Don’t get me wrong, maybe I am that boring and uninteresting. Maybe I should write my life’s story here and give details of a childhood filled with stuff you only see in the movies with its twists and turns in a dark place of the mind that becomes a child’s only friend in a world that has no meaning to him really. Hmm, Then I’d get readers I’ll bet. Or just keep it to fitness and talk about my thoughts about that part of my life’s journey. Or maybe combine the two together talking about how fitness helps me get through the day with minimal thoughts of a negative past that I’m doing all I can to turn around and make something positive for a future. Being this close to 60 though, my future is not that long really, I guess. So, I’ll do a lot of “Old Guy” rambling here…… LOL!

       So just tell me what all you thousands of people out there reading this want to hear about. I’m an open book so let’s start a reading club! Tomorrow’s blog is going to be a bout fear and what I think about it. Hope to see you there. In the meantime, have a great life and remember it IS what you make it and NOT what someone makes it for you. It’s the main thing I’ve learned in life and now I’m passing it on to you all! Enjoy!

What is it to Fail?

        Sooooo many people on Facebook have been posting about if you don’t fail you’re not doing what it takes to succeed. And Feeling the need to Purge from within to tell of their failures in order to feel better about themselves. Also, that we should welcome stories from others about failing so we can learn from them as well, because after all, “We can’t grow if we don’t Fail!” So, after shaking my head a bit, I totally have to say something about all that,,,,,

       First off, I don’t think a lot of people really know what FAILURE is all about. It’s not that you HAVE Fail to be successful, rather that Failure DOES happen and when it does we should be OK with it and learn so we can be better. So, when someone says “If you don’t Fail you are not doing what it takes to Succeed” That is totally an false statement. For example: Tony Horton came up  P90X. Did it Fail right off?  No, it was a HUGE Success right out of the gate. Another Example: Changing my first ever water pump on my car. I paid attention to how everything came off and then replaced the old part with a new one, put it all back together in reverse of how I took it all off. Started up the car and it ran like new. No Leaks, no overheating, no parts left over (gee what was this bolt for again? LOL!) it was a Success not a failure, First time. So, without failing first, these two things WERE done successfully. But as I already stated, the way some are looking at it, as I have read on Facebook and other media sources, “If you don’t fail you can’t Succeed”. Hmm, that would mean, P90X and my water pump change out should NOT be looked at as a success at all. Why? Because the statement made was “If you don’t Fail you are not doing what it takes to Succeed”. And as I have pointed out, a person does not have to fail first before they can be successful at something. That just doesn’t make sense on any level.

          If you set out to and look forward to failure so you can succeed, you will never succeed. You have already given in to the belief that what you are doing won’t work. So really, why bother then, because at what point WOULD you think “This is it! I got this!”?  If when you do something you expect it fail? Nothing you do STARTS as a Failure. It starts as a Success because your mind already sees what you are going for. It’s the end result that sometimes throws us a curve ball and we must try again because it failed. Now if you don’t even try something then you didn’t really fail, you did nothing to fail at. You also didn’t succeed because you did nothing to succeed at.  So, you did, nothing! And actually that’s worse than failing. Take doing a workout for example, if you start but not finish then you failed doing it. But if you never even tried to do the workout then you didn’t fail, or succeed, you did nothing.  However, if you promised to do the workout but didn’t, then you failed. This is because you set the task of doing the workout and didn’t. So you actually failed the task, but not the workout. Confused? Well, basically, a failure is when a person doesn’t follow through on something they stated they would do or what they did try didn’t work out the way it was intended. But no one sets out in hopes to fail!

       Throughout history people have looked at failure as a thing of shame and embarrassment. The Wright Brothers were look at as being an embarrassment and people laughed at them. But they knew, even then, that failure meant simply “Let’s take what was learned and try again.” They certainly were not looking forward to failing. That’s the concept that should be looked at today.  Like the Wright Brothers, if you fail, that’s OK, just try again from what you learned. After all what IS Fail, F. A. I. L.?  It could really mean, “From All I Learned”. So take ALL you learned and from that you will succeed. Keeping this in mind, take another look at that word again, F A I L and remember what you learned about it. You changed that failure to a success because you learned from it. Since the letter F is considered a failing grade and you now have a success, let’s add the S in place of the F. Now you have, SAIL, as in smooth sailing, its all good, you did it, and you’re on your way. So now the word could mean, “Success As I Learned”.

        Also, as there is no shame in failing, there is no shame in not running to tell everyone openly that you failed at something. If asked, don’t be afraid to say how it went but to feel like you NEED to tell it all and purge from within to feel better, you’re not getting the point of how to handle failure. It isn’t any great catharsis or inner growth for well being by “Coming Clean” as some people put it. Openly admitting that you failed at something you tried doesn’t really prove your point that you are just a regular person, doing things like everyone else and you’re not perfect. In fact, if you have to point that out, then you actually do see yourself as above others but don’t want them to see you that way in hopes to make them feel better about themselves. There really is no Person above another in life, everyone is AMAZING in their own way.  A person confessing their failures in hopes to achieve that, sounds kind of fake. Example: Does a person go around stating they are a Man or Woman or that they have Bones and Blood in their bodies to prove they are like everyone else? No, no one does that. So why point out or make it a goal to feel you have to come clean and tell all about your every move to prove you are like everyone else? People already know what type of person you are no matter what you may proclaim. Everyone has their Haters and Likers, both will make you a better person if you look at it with an open mind. In closing, just Remember the Beachbody MOTTO::: Decide ~ Commit ~ Succeed !!!! It Doesn’t say Fail.

Not Just Fitness

 

        Life is not just about fitness and nutrition. It’s about family as well and being positive. I gotta tell ya, family is NOT always blood related. Family can be close friends as well or even a group you belong to. As for me, I have family out there, but they’ve shut me out for years now. I’ve tried but no response in a positive way. I honestly don’t even know what I did but they say I’m the one who slammed the door…. Whaaaat!!???  So, for me, Family is Beachbody! I’ve learned the importance from them of maintaining as positive of a life as I can. I’m not always UP, but I do what I can and deal with what’s in front of me.

       Negative to me is just another word for wasting time. When you figure all the time you spend being upset or ticked off about something and not doing anything about it, you could have used that same amount of time to solve or correct what ever the issue was. Oh, I get mad at times, but I do what I can to put the brakes on to review and really look at what I’m upset about. If it’s something that can be dealt with and corrected, then great! Other wise it’s left at the wayside and I continue on. Sometimes easier said than done, I know, but none the less it’s what we all need to do. On the flip side of that, I’m all about the positive in life but negativity is what makes us grow and learn as I see it. It’s needed emotion. Diversity is another word use for that as well. I can already feel some of you are shaking your head and rolling your eyes but negativity is needed in everyone’s life in order to grow. Come on, if every day and everything in your life were 100% positive, what did you learn? How did you grow? Hmm, kind of a deep thought I guess but when you think about it, it’s true, really true!

      So, negativity, though a waste of your time to dwell on, is also a stepping stone to learning and seeing more clearly. Thus, you turn it to a positive.  That’s what I’ve had to do with my family issue. I try hard not to dwell on it but instead, learn. Yes, I said learn from it. It’s not something I can change or go back and redo since I don’t know what I did in the first place, but I can do my best to treat others in a way unlike how I am treated. Everyone has their own little quirks and things we don’t agree with but all in all that’s what makes them unique or special. If there’s too much of a difference, then simply wish them well and move on, even if it’s blood family. There are MILLIONS of people out there. Why waste so much time on those that you have nothing in common with and only bring you down? It’s like you go out to dinner and you see 10 things to eat, not all of them are what you like. Are you going to settle for what’s closer even though you don’t care for it, or walk a few steps and have something that makes you happy and feel good? I’m going to go into this a little more with my next blog and dig into “Success & Failure” what it is and isn’t. I hope this blog made you think a little and I hope to hear from you soon!

Holiday Test Time Is Here!

      It’s here folks! The first week of testing to get your mind straight, your portion control in order and willpower placed in check. Most will see this as the beginning of the end as for their weight. After all, that’s what ‘New Year’s” is all about , the Resolution! Sort of like the Resolution of the Revolution in you newly found fitter life style. Sounds good in theory but to really be able to make it to a new, healthier lifestyle is to grab hold from the start. Thus, Thanksgiving is Test Week! You make it through this week without gaining weight or passing out from that food coma you worked so hard on, then you can and WILL get through the Holidays with flying colors “A+”!

     Like I’ve said before, eat slower, use a smaller plate. I’d like to add in that eating colder foods will also help in being able to cut down. The stomach needs to maintain a constant temp to digest properly. It will expand and contract to do this. Warm or hot foods will cause the stomach to relax, causing it to allow more food in before it’s to the point of not being able to eat any more. Cold food will cause the opposite effect making the stomach stay tight and not relax out. This will restrict the amount of the food you can eat before you get that can’t eat another bite feeling. I’m not saying don’t ever eat hot food, just make a balance of hot & cold, leaning more towards the cold side and you’ll see results.

Portion Control

[spacer height=”5px”]       Portion control is like a foreign word to most. To really put it to the test, go to your favorite All You Can Eat Buffet. If you don’t have one, then just pick one and go to it. All that food laid out there like a call of the wild filling your senses with a cornucopia of foods stretched out before you. How do you think you’ll do? It’s really a mind over matter type of thing where you need to fool your brain. Use a smaller plate when eating and fill it like you would a larger plate, right to the rim! Your mind feels it’s getting a lot of food and will feel like it’s a lot when you eat it. Best part of this is, is that you are eating less food and thus, losing a few pounds is now in your future. A key point here is to also slow down your eating time and make it last, making your body feel like you’re eating as much as you used to.

      To explain that time thing, read on. You know how when enjoying your meal, you take that “Last Bite”, the one that makes you feel suddenly like a beached whale and your stomach is stretched out beyond the size of your pants? That’s because you ate too much too fast. So, slow it down and change the amount. It takes 20 min. for your brain to get the message that there’s food in your stomach. Now, that last bite that was too much? It was the last several bites that was too much. This is the reason that feeling hits you like a brick.
